‘X-Factor’ season one winner Melanie Amaro freshens up, and turns out The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin’s Respect. The single will be heard during Pepsi’s Super Bowl commercial on game day, Sunday Feb., 5.




If you’re not already familiar with Emeli Sandé you better get to know her really fast. Singer, songwriter Sandé has lent her skills to artists including Leona Lewis and rapper Tinie Tempah. “Next To Me,” the first video from Sandé’s debut album “Our Version of Events” is a story of a faithful lover who’s always there when you’re in need.

DJ’s have snatched the “next rock star” title from chefs. According to X-Factor judge Simon Cowell “DJ’s are the new rock stars …” Cowell is on point; DJ’s including David Guetta (he of the Kelly Rowland collabos) Diplo, and Skrillex are stadium superstars. The “Jersey Shore’s” DJ Pauly D was recently signed to 50 Cent’s label.


Cowell’s SYCO production company is teaming up with Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment, and Sony Pictures Television to launch a new reality show focused on finding the world’s greatest DJ. The format will be shopped internationally and domestically, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Melanie Amaro has the X-Factor. The 19-year-old beat out Chris Rene, Josh Krajcik  and more than 100,000 contestants to take home the first American X-Factor title. Amaro walks away with a $5 million advance and a Pepsi commercial.


[According to the Daily News] The Sunrise, Fla., product’s soulful rendition of Beyonce‘s ballad “Listen,” which she also sang at her audition, may have put her over the top in Wednesday’s final performance round.


When asked why Melanie lasted longer than favorites Rachel Crow and Drew Ryniewicz her mentor Simon Cowell said the following to Entertainment Weekly:

She’s got that star ability, and she’s tough. She was not the easiest person to work with. If she didn’t like something, she’d tell you. But I like that. I like that from an artists. You know, she’s got guts. She’s got steel. And right up until the last second, she was always concerned about her performance, and then the light switch went on every time.

Today Melanie is making the rounds to talk about her big win. Soon she’ll be in the studio with her mentor, Cowell and working on an album with one of three labels who want to sign the teen queen.

This season of X-Factor is going to be full of surprises. Executive producer, Simon Cowell has planned to make the U.S. version of the show a hit — as TMZ reports, he’s officially snagged Rihanna as a guest judge.

As part of the show, judges are allowed to bring guests on to help them decide which contestants to mentor — and Antonio “L.A.” Reid, who signed Rihanna back in 2005, is planning to bring her on board to help him decide.

According to TMZ, the pop singer enjoyed doing the U.K. finale last year, and Simon undoubtedly knows a ratings cow when he sees one. -_-
