On November 8th 2011, Hip hop lost hip hop giant, Heavy D. Today, TMZ revealed the cause of the legend’s death. Heavy D died from a pulmonary embolism caused by deep leg vein thrombosis. To be more precise, blood cloths was formed in his legs. The Coroner’s Office has classified the death as “natural.”

Yesterday, family and friends said their farewells to Heavy D who passed away last Tuesday. During the service, Rev. Al Sharpton called Heavy’s daughter Xea Myers to the podium to read a written message from President Obama.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences at this difficult time,” the note from Obama read. “He will be remembered for his infectious optimism and many contributions to American music. Please know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.”

Stars like Diddy, Jay-Z, Queen Latifah, Will Smith, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Denzel Washington and more where all their to say goodbye. Hit the jump for more pictures. (more…)

Talk about a coincident. Tim Westwood posted this interview he did with the late great Heavy D. During the 13 minutes sitdown, he shed some light on the T.R.O.Y. record, the producing process for Hov’s Gunz & Roses which is an interesting story, the birth place of hip hop & lots more. Again…RIP Heavy D.

One of the most colorful & respected artist from the 90s, Heavy D, has passed away earlier today. TMZ broke the news not long ago. This may shock a lot of people since he performed at this year BET Hip Hop Awards. The lone detail we have is that he was rushed to the hospital around 1pm & was pronounced dead.
