Rumor: Black Eyed Peas’ Member Fergie To Be Replaced By Ashanti – Indefinitely?

It looks like R & B singer Ashanti may have a new singing gig starting next year. According to MediaTakeOut.com Ashanti is replacing the Black Eyed Peas front woman, Fergie as she takes a leave of absence in November.

MTO’s sources report: “The group had been looking for a replacement for some time.”

And conveniently, Ashanti who had already been added to the group’s world tour – had her audition while touring — and was evaluated to see if she could work with the band which she successfully accomplished – without a hitch.

And although there has not been an official announcement made — as yet — Black Eyed Peas member Taboo announced earlier this week that as of Nov 23rd (the group’s last official tour date) Fergie is taking an indefinite leave of absence.

Taboo told The New Times, “we have to respect Ferg. Ferg is our sister. She definitely wants to have a family, and we’re happy for her.”

Ashanti and The Black Eyed Peas have already been on tour for nearly a month and it is said the annoncement will be made in a few weeks.

Pop Group Black Eyes Peas Are Going On An Indefinite Break? |Video|

This is some surprising news. During a show at Alton Towers in Staffordshire last week, the group made a huge announcement to their fans: They’re going on an indefinite break from making music together.

“This show is very special because it is last time we’re going to be in England for a long time. ” – Fergie

We’re pretty sure they’re working on solo projects, similar to their 2005-2009 run. Will. I. Am is currently in the studio prepping to release his upcoming album entitled Black Einstein. So all you BEP stans, don’t cry…dry your eyes. Like Fergilicious said:

“This isn’t going to be the last time you’ll see us!”
