The celebration took place at the Loews Paradise Theatre in New York City and was hosted by actresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King.

Of course, MSDTV had an exclusive pass to the star-studded affair…

The entire night  focused on honoring the achievements of women of color with moving performances, tributes, and special awards. This year’s honorees included Dionne Warwick (Living Legend Award), Alicia Keys (Rock Star Award), and Janelle Monáe (Young, Gifted, & Black Award).

Ciara offered an energetic performance showcasing new material off her upcoming One Woman Army album, and was joined by Missy Elliott for a surprise duet and  a “1, 2 Step.”

Brandy hypnotized the crowd with her performance of “Wildest Dreams,” while Keyshia Cole brought fans to their feet with her new single “Trust and Believe” off her upcoming album Woman to Woman.

Alicia Keys opened the show with her new single and anthem “Girl on Fire,” and then later accepted her award with tearful speech.

This year, Black Girls Rock! welcomed a few special gentleman to their stage – Idris Elba, who had the ladies in pre-riot mode and then Luke James, Anthony Hamilton, and Eric Benét serenaded the ladies with Tom Jones’ classic “She’s a Lady.”

“Black Girls Rock!” will premiere Sunday, November 4, on BET – don’t miss it.
