Hot 97’s Summer Jam is always a day of surprises, but this year proved to offer more surprises than what they could have bargained for.
With only hours before she was set to touch down on the MetLife stage in New Jersey, Nicki Minaj was pulled out of the lineup.
According to reports, morning on-air personality Peter Rosenberg dissed the star earlier in the day, which caused Lil Wayne to make the executive decision to cancel her appearance.
Rosenberg addressed the artist: “I see the real hip-hop heads sprinkled in here,” he said. “I know there are some chicks here waiting to sing ‘Starships’ later. I’m not talking to you right now. F*ck that bullsh*t.”

“Young Money ain’t doing summer jam,” tweeted Weezy as Tyga hit the stage.
Nicki respected her Young Money boss’ wishes and decided not to perform. “Wow. U niggaz just fucked up history. But the President has spoken,” she said. “I go above and beyond for my fans. But won’t ever go against wayne’s word. What he says, goes.”
Cash Money’s DJ Khaled was also part of the lineup, but instead followed in his team directed and was a no-show. Fans did however – get a performance from YMCMB’s Tyga, who unknowingly performed moments after Wayne released his statement.
Flex also had some choice words to say about the Starships singer during his set.
The NJ.com reports:
In between shouting out Jersey a lot, the DJ alluded to rappers being “afraid” to take the stage.
MetLife Stadium remained packed from the floor to the top risers as Flex continued to launch digs at Minaj, saying it’s her fault she “lost the streets.”
“You think you didn’t sell any records this time??” he taunted.
“Tune in to me tomorrow at 7 o’clock,” Flex continued. “I’m gonna ruin a career.”
Of course, MSDTV will keep you posted. Stay Tuned.
