“Think Like a Man,” the romantic comedy based on best selling author, and comedian Steve Harvey’s book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man” is set to hit theaters in two weeks. On Wednesday, April 4th the actors, director, and producer did double duty at a mid-day press reception, and screening.
MSDTV joined select media outlets at a Q&A session at the Sky Room prior to the star-studded New York premiere of the film. Relationship expert Demetria Lucas moderated a panel with cast members Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Terrence J., Romany Malco, La La Anthony, Regina Hall, director Tim Story and Rainforest producer Will Packer.
At the intimate Q&A it was hard to tell who was the comedian, and who was the actor as Romany Malco made a very special entrance with a camcorder, and “seductive” dance in an attempt to delight the women in attendance. After the cast filed in and was situated, Lucas launched into questions pertaining to the film and relationships in general.
The cast gave us their honest opinions, and we’ve shared some of the take-aways below.
La La Anthony on “thinking like a man.”
Sometimes women have to be less emotional.
Kevin on getting something from a man.
If you want something from a man, try not acting like a b*tch.
Terrence on how characters in the film translate to the real world.
In the film you’ll see people you’ve dated, and you’ll learn how to operate.
Jerry Ferrara, and Gabriel Union on being an interracial couple in the film.
Ferrara noted the film never addresses his, and Union’s character as being an interracial couple because they were just a regular couple. However, Union found it interesting that while on press junkets, no one ever addressed the couple as being functional users of marijuana.
After the Q&A everyone headed to the AMC 25 for the star-studded red carpet that included Steve Harvey, Taraji P. Henson, John Legend, Keri Hilson, Boris Kodjoe, Jadakiss, Selita Ebanks, Chrisette Michelle, Julissa Burmudez, Adrienne Bailon, Constance White (Essence Magazine editor-in-chief), Michelle Ebanks (Essence Magazine president), Emil Wilbekin (Essence.com managing editor), Stephen Hill (BET), up and coming actor Rotimi Akinosho, and more.
“Think Like A Man” is in theaters on April 20th.
