Give A Snack Wrap A Chance: Why Mary J. Blige’s Burger King Ad Got Pulled

Yesterday Mary J. Blige’s new Burger King commercial debuted online to some less than stellar reviews. Both fans and critics offered their scathing commentary on Mary singing out ingredients at the condiment counter.

In the commercial, that has since been pulled, Mary stands on a table and soulfully sings about Crispy Chicken Snack Wraps. The ad begins with a customer walking up to the counter inquiring about the wrap and Blige sings all of the new ingredients over an R&B beat.

So why was this ad pulled? It appears to be a last minute decision by Mary’s team who are now rumored to be rethinking the entire initiative.

Interestingly enough, David Beckham, Salma Hayek and Jay Leno also participated in the Burger King campaign called ‘Exciting Things are Happening’ though not assigned to chicken sales. Salma Hayek pushes the new BK salad, David Beckham the new BK smoothie and Jay Leno showcases the new BK Menu.

Hayek, Beckham and Leno’s ads remain online.

Here are a few photos from the commercial. Will this ad ever reemerge? We highly doubt it.

Stay Tuned.
