President Obama is steadily on the campaign fundraising trail as the President attended three fundraising events yesterday in Atlanta, Georgia – with one hosted by his celebrity friend Tyler Perry.
Actor/director Tyler Perry welcomed President Obama and special guests into his Atlanta home yesterday. Tickets to the private event cost $35,000 per person, according to CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller, and approximately 60 people were invited.
The event at Perry’s home was one of five fundraisers that Mr. Obama attended (he also had two other events in Chicago that day).
Another Atlanta presidential fundraiser was held at Tyler Perry Studios, and featured a performance by singer/”The Voice” judge Cee Lo Green. The event was attended by 1,000 people, with general admission tickets starting at $500. A limited number of tickets sold for $250.
All proceeds from Friday’s trio of events – an expected to total more than $5 million, went to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee authorized by Obama for America and the Democratic National Committee.
