Susan Lucci is about to get a new lease on life on the small screen. The 18-time Daytime Emmy nominee will star in ‘Desperate Housewives’ producer Marc Cherry’s new series, ‘Devious Maids.’
The series which is based on the Mexican telenovela format stars Judy Reyes, Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, and Roselyn Sanchez as Beverly Hills maids with ambitions outside of doing windows for a living. Lucci, who is known to millions as ‘All My Children’s’ Erica Kane will play the rich, and crazy boss of one of the maids.
Should Devious be picked up to series, the role would mark Lucci’s first primetime scripted series gig. The actress also appeared on Season 7 of the network’s Dancing With the Stars.
All My Children was canceled last year to make room for less expensive programming on the network, with Lucci criticizing then-ABC daytime chief Brian Frons’ decision to pull the plug on the long-running soap.
Hopefully Lucci’s loyal ‘All My Children’ fans will tune in to give the series a boost. Who knows, maybe she’ll garner an Emmy nomination for a prime-time show.
Stay tuned for more.
