Can’t Catch A [Tax] Break: The Government Wants Heavy D To Pay Up

They say the only things certain in life are death and taxes — and in the case of 90s iconic rapper Heavy D, the latter of those two apparently holds more weight than the first.

According to TMZ, the rapper passed away leaving a pretty sizable tax debt – which according to the State of California – he may still have to pay.

TMZ reports that documents were filed last month by the Franchise Tax Board in California stating that  Heavy D (real name Dwight E. Myers) has a tax lien against him in the amount of $43,967.87. The lien filed applies to the years of 2008 and 2009.

As reported by MSDTV, rapper Heavy D passed  away last November after suffering a pulmonary embolism outside his Beverly Hills home. The rapper was 44.
