Fresh off her Super Bowl performance of Give Me All Your Luvin, with Madonna, and the scene-stealing  M.I.A.; Nicki Minaj took some time out of her busy schedule to chat with Simon Doonan for


Doonan, Barney’s New York’s longtime Creative Director referred to Nicki Minaj as his idol. Minaj spoke frankly about success, and becoming a more guarded person as her star rises in the industry.


BET may have banned Minaj’s diss to Lil Kim, Stupid Hoe but it seems to have elevated Minaj in Doonan’s mind.

Directed by Hype Williams, her “Stupid Hoe” video takes the majestic Minaj legend to a whole new level of hilarious arty hoochie-chic.


Nicki Minaj has always pushed the envelope when it comes to fashion. When you take a look at the women she lists as her style icons you get a full understanding of where she comes from with regard to her personal/brand style.


Minaj’s style icons:

Grace Jones definitely. So amazing. And Cyndi Lauper, I loved her right from when I was a little girl. And Janet Jackson of course. And Boy George. I always loved the way he dressed, and his music too.
