M.I.A. Rumored To Have Split From Ben Bronfman, May Be Fined By The FCC

Just days after her flipping the Super Bowl viewing world the bird, M.I.A is splitting from her fiance Benjamin Bronfman.

 

The New York Daily News is reporting the M.I.A., 36 who has a son with Bronfman called it quits after a three-year relationship with the environmentalist. Benjamin, 29, is the son of Seagram heir Edgar Bronfman Jr., and philanthropist Sherry Bronfman.

 

M.I.A., whose real name is Mathangi Arulpragasm spends the majority of her time in the UK where she was born, while Bronfman, and their son Ikhyd live in the US.

 

M.I.A.’s immigration problems may stem from issues relating to comments she’s made about turmoil in her father’s native Sri Lanka, and his involvement with the Tamil Tigers. The Tamil Tigers are recognized as a terrorist group.

 

In addition to splitting from Bronfman, M.I.A., may have a hefty fine to pay courtesy of the FCC. After the Nipple Gate incident of 2004, the Super Bowl and NBC added a clause which indemnifies them from the actions of wayward performers.
