‘The Help’ Stars Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer Get Oscar Nods



Congratulations are in order for actresses Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer. Both actresses received Oscar nominations for their work in “The Help.”

Spencer has won the Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Movie Award for her performance, as well as the National Board of Review honor as a member of the ensemble of the film. She’s also in contention for BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild awards.

Davis will go up against Meryl Streep, Rooney Mara, Glenn Close and Michelle Williams for Best Actress in a Leading Role.


Spencer vies for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar against Bérénice Bejo, Melissa McCarthy, Janet McTeer, and her “The Help” co-star Jessica Chastain.


It’s a great Oscar year for “The Help,” the film received a nomination for Best Picture.
