Ms. Drama TV is sad to report that Nickolas Ashford, one-half of the famed husband-and-wife Singing/Songwriting/Producing duo, Ashford and Simpson died in a New York City hospital yesterday where he had been battling throat cancer for quite some time. He was 70-years-old.
The double act of 38 years penned Motown classics such as, Diana Ross’ ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,’ Chaka Khan’s, ‘I’m Every Woman, and Marvin Gaye and Tami Terrell’s collaborative track, ‘You’re All I Need (To Get By).’ However, those are only two of countless thriving R&B hits that the couple wrote side-by-side.
Ashford is survived by his wife and two daughters. Details surrounding Ashford’s death have yet to be released to the public.
