On Sunday, June 26th – the same night of the 2011 BET Awards, Lil’ Kim was scheduled to perform at an exclusive show hosted by LQ Lounge in New York City. The event was also to include appearances by Lauren London, and Mya on their red carpet…however, the stars did not arrive to the venue as planned.
VIP ticket-holders were able to catch a glimpse of Kim prior to the show, as she warmed up by doing sound check on stage with renditions of Rihanna’s “Man Down”, and a couple of joints off of her not-so successful mixtape, “Black Friday”. That would be the last audience members got to see of the lyricist for the rest of the night, however.
In an unfortunate turn of events, the promoter for the stage show, Tracey Pridgen of Tre’s Promotions, assumed position on stage around 1.30am, and revealed to the anxious group that due to unforeseen complications with the promotion and misinformation of others fed to various people, there was a possibility Kim would not return to the stage. By then, the tense crowd made their way to the exit, as the whole thing turned into a major flop.
It is not absolutely clear what the actual issue was, but for hardcore fans of Lil’ Kim, it certainly was not a pleasant way to end the weekend.
