Ja Rule Turns Himself In: Says He Plans to get his G.E.D, Play the Guitar & Write a Book?

Ja Rule is scheduled to turn himself in today after he pleaded guilty in December 2010 to attempted criminal possession of a weapon.

Ja Rule, whose real name Jeffrey Atkins, has been in the studio working on tracks and shooting videos in preparation of his lock down. He is expected to serve his sentence in upstate New York prison for 2 years.

Rule recently told “Good Day New York” about his upcoming sentence:

“Laws are laws. There’s nothing I could really do but own up to the situation. You know, I try not to regret anything I do in life, because you go through life and you do things, and you man up to them. You own them.”

As you may recall, back in 2007 – the same night Lil Wayne was arrested for gun possession after their concert they performed together – Ja Rule was also stopped in his Maybach and cops found a .40 caliber semi-automatic gun in his vehicle.

In addition to those charges, his lawyers are working to have the additional tax evasion charges on his $3 million income–which will give him 3 additional years in prison– combined with his current sentence so it can be served out simultaneously.

Although sentenced for 2 years, Rule is hoping to get out in 6 months on good behavior. He recently tweeted his last few words today:

Rule leaves behind his wife and 3 kids in New Jersey and says he wants to get his GED, learn to play the guitar, and write a book.
