Ms. Drama TV was on the scene for this year’s Summer Jam at The Meadowlands Arena. Last night, Hot 97 hosted it’s annual Summer Jam concert series with headliners such as Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, and Wiz Khalifa. The show was full of surprises, including appearances by Ryan Leslie, Jeremih, Lloyd, Busta Rhymes, Mobb Deep, Jadakiss, Swizz Beats, and New York City’s kingpin Diddy himself; who closed out the show with his Bad Boy recording artist, Rick Ross. After the break, catch more of the highlights and photos.
With a new & improved stadium, The Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford, NJ has been home to Hot 97’s Summer Jam concerts in the past. Wiz Khalifa opened up the show with an intense performance (heightened by the smell of marijuana on the podium, which embodies his personality entirely), in addition to Waka Flocka Flame’s sizzling routine, dreads and all.
In lieu of a failed attempt to reunite the entire Dipset crew at last year’s show, fortunately, 2011’s Summer Jam proved to be an incredible success, as the crew graced the stage to perform all of their hit songs together – a sight worth seeing. Although Nicki Minaj did not turn up to this year’s spectacle on behalf of the YMCMB crew (she was at the MTV movie awards in L.A. – a definite boss move), Lil Wayne and the rest of his family were in attendance; including a segment from Lil Twist and a bombshell from Drizzy Drake who came onto the stage to perform “Miss Me” after his band mates retired from the platform.
Oh, but the show did not end there.
Chris Brown targeted all of the ladies in the audience with a very raunchy & mischievous segment reminiscent of a young Usher in his prime; complete with a choreographed piece followed by his infamous ‘Dougy’ , along with a sexually explicit delivery of “No B.S.” that gave vivid imagination to what goes on in Breezy’s bedroom – shout out to that female he brought on stage. Sigh.
Last but not least, Rick Ross blessed the stage (kind of), adorned in a very flattering, um…shirt, which exposed his unmentionables. But we’re there mostly for the music, right? Ricky Rozay tore the entire place down as he performed his hits, “B.M.F.” as well as the “O Let’s Do It (remix)”, which introduced Diddy and Waka Flaka back onto the stage.
Hot 97’s Angie Martinez, DJ Enuff, Camilo, Cee, Flex, Bobby Trends, Spynfo, Bobby Konders & Jabba were all present for the show, with sets from each DJ in between acts – respectively. The team at Hot 97 definitely did their thing last night – they hosted a memorable show, and gave the people of the tri-state area something to talk about. Until next year…
