The Grace Hotel hosted DJ Roxy Cottontail’s Pool Party in order to commemorate the NXNY mixtape series, which includes sounds from Ms. Cottontail herself as well as sets from DJ’s, Sav and MszDJQ, respectfully.

Those wanting a close glimpse of both Roxy and what she has in store for her “bunnies”, took full advantage of her pool party on May 29th, a fantastic get-away from the intense heat that made up New York’s Memorial Day weekend.  In attendance, were New York City’s premiere group – artists, photographers, hipsters, DJ’s,  fashionistas, and those simply looking to party it up in the heart of Times Square.

DJ NoDoubt and Xavier make up what is known as NXNY, as they have established their brand for the past three years by creating their own mixes and showcasing their product with a residency at New York City’s own Luxe Bar & Lounge inside the Times Square hot spot Lucky Strike lanes.  With influences from the late DJ AM and The Martinez Brothers, their creative style is reminiscent of the Ibiza/Buddhist Lounge laid-back house and techno sound.   Their technique is most similar to Roxy’s, as they team up together to create a blend of rhythmic beats pulsating through the hearts of anyone willing and ready to listen.

Roxy began her career as an aspiring music enthusiastic, upon which she came to New York City looking for a chance to hit it big in the big city.  From Baltimore to Philadelphia, she has been around the musical sphere doing gigs, taking names, and picking up experience along the way.  Her notoriety comes from establishing fellow deejays that hail from Philadelphia, PA – Diplo and Low Budget, who built their names amongst their legendary Hollertronix parties. Diplo, who happens to be a producer/songwriter in addition to being a DJ, also has ties to British-based artist M.I.A. where they teamed up with her producer, Switch, to create the Jamaican dancehall project titled Major Lazer.  Roxy’s signature style has given her the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in the industry, such as DJ AM, Steve Aoki, Afrika Bambaata, Stretch Armstrong, Nina Sky, Fake Blood, and A-Trak.  Her resume builds from there, as she has had opportunities hosting parties with live performances by LMFAO, M.I.A, Spankrock, Slick Rick, and Devin the Dude, as well as countless others.  Her style is embedded in her personality as a world-renowned DJ, which is a testament to her eclectic musical tastes that have deep roots in punk, electro, dance, house, hip-hop, reggae, and rock.  You can find her doing notorious parties Monday nights at Sway nightclub, located in the heart of Soho, in addition to the myriad of appearances she has all over the world.
