Mashonda quits Love & Hip-Hop and says, this Drama “doesn’t represent who I am!”

I have to give it up for Mashonda. Through all the drama with her ex-husband, Alicia Keys, and even the media – this woman has somehow managed to always rise above. And with the ratchetness unpredictable behavior on the show – I was starting to wonder if she would also succumb to the foolish behavior and petty drama.

Well Mashonda must have gotten the memo as she has officially announced she won’t be returning for a second season. She cites the show’s negative aspects (e.g. drama and fights) as her main reasons for moving on.

Fans of Mashonda won’t be seeing her on any reality tv shows next season, as she vents her frustration with how “Love & Hip-Hop” turned out.

In a new interview with Hip Hop Weekly Magazine, Mashonda explains why she felt mislead about the show and how she imagined it would be a platform of empowerment for sisters. Here’s a few excerpts from the article:

As she was going through a very public divorce and lifestyle change with ex-husband Swizz Beatz, Mashonda thought her struggles could inspire women like Emily B (Fabolous’ baby momma) and other women in similar situations.

“I really honestly did do the show to help Emily and help women across the United States, to let them know that you’re not the only one that can go through something like this {divorce and heartbreak}.”

And she knew about the possible backlash going into it.

“No matter what I say, it’s going to be judged at the hundredth power, people are just going to look at me and judge. People are going to say I’m too emotional, or I need to get over it, or I need to move on, I’m bitter. A lot of people were actually saying (I) was strong, (I) made it out classy, (I) did everything (I) could, but when you do a show, you have to know what’s coming next, a world full of judgment.”

But when she saw the show’s final product…She was not happy.

“I just don’t feel like at this point in my life, Love and Hip Hop represents who I am, it’s just a chapter that is over. When I shot the show, I thought that it was going to be like more of a sisterhood, but when I saw a lot of the drama and the beef, I was a little surprised, I was like wow, okay, I didn’t know this was going to be apart of what this is.”

For all of you die hard Mashonda fans (and yes they do exist) expect big things from the songstress. She is hitting the studio to work on new music and plans to have all creative control. She describes it as being passionate and soulful, “I’m in a lane, that no one is touching is in right now.” She also reveals a new upcoming self-help book/memoir, “It’s not a tell all, I have a few surprises though.”

Can’t wait to see who she exposes talks about in it!
