Video: Birdman Speaks On Drake & Common Beef

Posted by Ricki P. On January - 10 - 2012

This Common vs Drake hoopla had the internets in a frenzy yesterday when Common released his verse on the same song Drizzy jabbed him, “Stay Schemin”. Birdman was in the west coast on the Big Boy Neighborhood radio show where he spoke on the emcees trading blows.

The new year just rolled in and we already have our first beef of the year. On Friday, Ross released the video for Stay Schemin and Drizzy had a few bars for the Chicago rapper. Well today, Common added his verse to Rozay’s joint & you can hear the 1-2 combo he threw at Drake at the 3:30 mark. Did he just say Drake was “Canada Dry”?

Tennis pro, Serena Williams may be having second thoughts about ending it with her former boyfriend and celebrity pal, Common.

Earlier today, the two were spotted engaging in a twitter conversation about Common’s song, “Loving I Lost” which is featured on his The Dreamer/The Believer album. After Serena responded to Common’s tweet about the favorite song from his album, Common took the opportunity to offer Serena a personal invitation to his upcoming video for it.

While their public interaction may be completely innocent, it seems pretty obvious that the two still have strong feelings for each other.

And although we’re not exactly sure what broke this power couple up, we can definitely say, time does heal all wounds and so does the “Loving [one] lost”.

On a side note, now that Drake has found another video hoe, model, chick, vixen to entertain himself with – ain’t it about time Common got back on his Serena game? Just saying.

You can check out the full stream of track, “Loving I Lost” after the break. Stay Tuned.

Dr. Maya Angelou Calls In To “106 & Park”

Posted by Graham On December - 21 - 2011

Common on 106 & Park

Two days ago we reported on Dr. Maya Angelou’s disappointment with Common’s use of the “N” word in his song, The Dreamer on which they collaborated. Later that night Dr. Angelou called in while Common visited Rocsci and Terrence J. on BET’s 106 & Park. Watch the video below to hear Dr. Angelou say some amazing things about Common and why we must remain a unified people.

There was a statement made by Machiavelli in the 15th century.  He said if you want to control the people, separate them, and you can rule them.  Divide them and you can conquer them.  I will not be divided from Common.

Well put Dr. Angelou.

The N-Word: Maya Angelou Tells Common Why She’s Mad

Posted by Graham On December - 19 - 2011

Common and Maya Angelou

Not too long ago Common requested assistance from the outspoken and revered poet Maya Angelou on his single The Dreamer, the first single from his new album The Dreamer, The Believer. Angelou performed a spoken word piece specifically for the track. Unfortunately, Common broke one of Angelou’s cardinal rules — no use of the n-word. Now, she is fuming and dismayed reports the New York Post.

The Pulitzer Prize-nominated poet was petrified when she heard the lyrics.

“I had no idea that Common was using the piece we had done together on [a track] in which he also used the ‘N’ word numerous times,” Angelou said.

Angelou said she never knew Common used the “N” bomb at all, calling it “vulgar and dangerous” to the black community.

“I’m surprised and disappointed. I don’t know why he chose to do that. I had never heard him use that [word] before. I admired him so because he wasn’t singing the line of least resistance.”

According to the New York Post “the song was peppered with the n-word.” We counted and Common said the n-word twice throughout the duration of the song which is approximately six minutes. MSDTV has a lot of respect and love for Maya Angelou. However, we wonder why she focused all of her attention on Common’s use of the n-word while disregarding references to exquisite bitches and hoes.

In an attempt to diffuse the situation, Common said he and Angelou have agreed to disagree.

Are you standing with Common or Maya Angelou on this one?

Stay tuned for more on the always controversial Common.
