LL Cool J; one of the many honored by the Long Island Music Hall of Fame for momentous contributions to music.
The Hall of Fame honours artists from Brooklyn, Queens and Nassau and Suffolk counties who’ve made significant contributions to music. Inductees include LL Cool J, Mariah Carey, Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, Public Enemy and RUN-DMC – just to name a few. It never had a place to call “home” (besides a website online)…until now. A 15-year leasing contract has been signed in order to begin renovation at the former location of Port Jefferson’s First National Bank. The new facility will include an interactive museum, classrooms, exhibits and a performance hall. Renovations of the new museum can take up to a year but might be open to the public during construction.

French-born DJ & house music producer, David Guetta plans to drop his fifth studio album, Nothing But The Beat, in stores on August 26th – but a couple tracks have already been leaked, including a song featuring collaborations with Chris Brown and Lil Wayne.
The song, entitled “I Can Only Imagine”, is reminiscent of Brown’s hit “Beautiful People” (featuring another sought after indie-electro DJ, Benny Benassi); a fist-pumping track certified for tribal/house music lovers, blurring the lines between pop, hip-hop, and electro funk. The track leaked online earlier today, and already has fans of all three artists in a frenzy.

Kelly Rowland has teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club of America in light of their “Be Ready” initiative an effort which prepares students for the beginning of school in fall.
On August 4th the “motivational” singer was spotted wearing a royal blue cap and gown at the Boys and Girl’s Club s leading ‘Back-to-School Season’ kick-off event. During an apparence on NBC’s ‘The Today Show’ Rowland discussed her participation with the national organization:
“Last year more than a million students nationally failed to graduate with a high school diploma. For me, I just think about my god kids and I think about myself being a student and how hard it was as a kid. It’s not just about education. It’s just about being a kid, period, and knowing that there’s a huge world out here of opportunity. And I don’t want to see anybody miss out on an opportunity.”

Antwan Andre Patton, better known as Big Boi (half of the hip-hop duo, Outkast), was arrested over the weekend in Miami for drug possession.
According to Miami-Dade County law enforcement, Big Boi was caught with MDMA (or ecstasy powder), ecstasy pills, and viagra during a routine border-patrol search at the Port Miami after getting off of a cruise ship. The artist was later charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of drug paraphernalia – all of which are felonies in the state of Florida. It is reported that Big Boi does not even have a prescription for the Viagra pills…(yikes).
Big Boi was booked at Miami-Dade County Jail, and then released on $16,000 bail. His lawyer made the following statement regarding the incident,
“While Big Boi was traveling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage,” attorney Daniel Kane said. “I am confident when the entire facts are aired Big Boi will be completely exonerated.” (CNN)
If found guilty, Big Boi could face up to five years in prison for each criminal charge. MSDTV will keep you updated on this story…
