Pete Rock and Smif-N-Wessun celebrated the release of Monumental Tuesday evening at the Tammany Hall in NYC. After the show, the NYPD was a bit aggressive towards the people outside the club. Earlier today, Pete Rock & Tek & Steele of Smif N Wessun held a press conference addressing all questions at New York Criminal Court. Below is an official statement regarding the brutality of the NYPD on the night of June 28th.

On Tuesday, June 28th, Pete Rock, Tek & Steele (of Smif N Wessun) were celebrating the release of their collaborative album, ‘Monumental.’ It was a peaceful gathering inside of a sold-out Tammany Hall (lower-east side Manhattan, NY) to see the group perform new music from the project. Earlier in the evening some guests wanted to enter the event but were turned away by the management and bouncers employed by the club. A minor argument ensued, but eventually was diffused by the bouncers. Thirty minutes after that minor skirmish 15-20 uniformed Police Officers from the 7th precinct arrived at the venue. Shortly after even more uniformed officers arrived. The officers then hurried into the club and began macing and assaulting individuals inside the club, dragging one of them out and pummeling him directly in front of the club. Present at the event were artists, industry tastemakers, fans, photographers, and cameramen. Several people began filming and recording the unprovoked brutality, much to the dismay of the police. The officers then began to mace and assault anyone within arms length, including several women. Kenneth Montgomery, the group’s attorney, who was in attendance at the event, stated that the Police “behavior was unjustified, unprovoked, and simply barbaric considering there was no provocation.” Pete Rock, Tek and Steele fortunately were not harmed, however some of their friends & family were assaulted by the Police. The group’s attorney, Kenneth Montgomery, is addressing the situation now with local community leaders & is available for comment with more detailed information.

Reports state, that gunshots were fired not too far from Michael Jackson’s home in Las Vegas, Nevada, on the two-year anniversary of the King of Pop’s death in June 2009.

Fans gathered at Jackson’s former residence for a tour of the property yesterday, when the moment was tarnished by the sound of shots fired from a neighboring house.   The intended effort was to memorialize the late-great music icon, as the property’s owner made a statement to TMZ saying,

“We will strive to give you a glimpse into his private life and home, to allow you to walk where he walked, to see what he saw, to breathe the same air that he breathed and… to be inspired.”

In a senseless act, the momentous occasion was marred by this disturbance, as police arrived immediately from already being on-call for an isolated incident. Sources say no one was hurt, with the exception of a large pitbull that was shot by authorities after allegedly attempting to attack one of their officers. The dog reportedly did not suffer fatal injuries, and was rushed to a nearby vet.

The tour would have been the first since the music legend’s tragic death 2 years ago, as the home has remained unoccupied since.

Well…as MSDTV reported earlier, Odd Future members Tyler the Creator & Frank Ocean had an ongoing feud with Chris Brown via Twitter that escalated to a car chase recently.  However, the “twitter beef” seems to have finally come to an end.  In a refreshing turn of events, all 3 of them came to a mutual understanding (again, by tweeting about it) and decided to extend their love & good graces by putting it all in the past.

Touching moment…

Once again it’s on. After going back & forth on twitter, calling C.Breezy a “B” on stage, Odd Future crooner, Frank Ocean got caught in a middle of a heated exchange while driving the streets of L.A. Word is the guys yapping are Chris Brown’s cousins. Don’t be surprise if both parties address the situation via Twitter

MSDTV caught wind of a rumor that has just started circulating around the web, in light of the premiere of BET’s annual awards show going down this Sunday at 8pm.  Amongst the list of scheduled hit performers are Alicia Keys, Chris Brown, Jill Scott, Drake, Lil Wayne, and…

Nicki Minaj featuring Lil’ Kim?! (or Lil’ Kim featuring Nicki Minaj…O_o)

Seems a little bit too hot for t.v. – tune in to the show Sunday airing live at 8pm to see if this is actually a hoax; and also keep it locked to MSDTV for immediate updates on this story.

In a recent interview with VIBE magazine, DMX opens up about his new upcoming album, his dislike for Young Money’s Drake, and his rumored beef with hip-hop mogul Jay-Z.  X was sentenced to a year behind bars last November for violating his probation, and was moved to the Mental Health Unit of the Arizona State Prison that following December.  Before his imprisonment, the rapper was videotaped yelling, “F*ck Jay-Z”, and says that he has not exchanged words with Jay since he became President of Def Jam in 2005.  There seems to be a lot of animosity towards Jay’s former position as the head of the company; and due to DMX’s previous conspiracy theories on the music industry, it sounds as if X feels that Jay played a crucial role in his release from the label. Taken from an excerpt of the interview, DMX states:

“I’ve not talked to him yet, since” DMX told VIBE, “But I had a show November 18th, before I got locked up–No November 12th I had the show. And somebody in the crowd was like ‘What’s up with Jay-Z’ and I was like ‘F–k Jay-Z’. And it ended up all over the place. So he called Swizz [Beatz], Swizz called me, and he tells Swizz ‘Yoo, why your man dissin me? I was gonna do a song with him’–Coulda, woulda, shoulda. F–king bulls–t. I don’t wanna hear that s–t. And like ‘Yo, can you just get him to say he ain’t mean it’–NO! I’m not saying that. What I did say is if he wanna talk to me, I’m man enough to let him know why it’s ‘F–k You’, but it’s still ‘F–k You’! That’s what it is. I’ll let you know why, I can do that. It ain’t like you gotta worry about me running up on you shooting you. It ain’t that serious. You don’t owe me nothing. But if you want an explanation as to why it’s ‘F–k You’, I’ll be more than happy to tell you why.”

The rapper also revealed his disaste for Drake’s lyrical ability, as he is quoted by saying,

“I don’t like Drake” X reveals. “It’s nothing that he did to me, He actually is talented. He’s very talented. Yeah, I don’t like him. It ain’t nothing personal. I don’t like his stuff. He is talented. He has a little wordplay here and there, but when I see him and hear him it’s like — ‘Money, I’m not rockin with that.’ “

Whatever that means.  Upon his early release from prison on July 1st, DMX plans to drop his new single titled, “Get Your Money Up!” on July 2nd.  You can read more from the interview here.

Lil Wayne Hints Retirement In The New XXL July/August Issue

Posted by Ricki P. On June - 22 - 2011

Weezy is stuntin’ like is Daddy on the new cover of XXL magazine. Issue hits newsstands nationwide on July 12th. In this exclusive interview, Tunechi mentioned Carter 4 might be his last offering to the world & retirement is near. Here’s a quick excerpt:

I’m bowing out still on top. I’ma make y’all me when I retire. I’ma make y’all be like, ‘Nooo!’ I ain’t leaving out this bitch when y’all be like, ‘Yeah, it’s about time, dawg.’ Carter IV might be my last one. I’ma make y’all be like, ‘Fuck!’ Yeah, nigga, I’m gone. Honestly, this is the real truth.  I honestly think it’s unfair to my kids. I’m super dedicated into what I do. Like, it’s no questions—it’s hands down, I do this. I live this. I don’t have a day out my week that I do something else. I do this every day of my life, and I’m not about to stop, ’cause that’s the only way you can succeed in this business, is to do it the way I do it. I want to succeed the way I want to succeed. You can succeed. You can put out a hit… But to do it the way I want to do it, to be comfortable to do what the fuck I want to do, you’ve got to work like no other. Like I said, it’s unfair to my kids. So about 30, 31, 32, I gotta get ready.

Andrea Herrera-Cardena, better known as that female named, ”Kat Stacks” may be facing deportation from this country…soon!  Your favorite rapper’s favorite groupie was arrested in Nashville, TN last week – three days after she turned 21-years old; and although the reasons for her arrest have not been released as of yet, reports are saying that she is facing a felony immigration charge.

O__o  Wut?!

The Nashville Criminal Justice Center made the following statement today:

She didn’t get arrested for a state charge, so she must’ve missed an immigration court date in the past. Once that happens they start looking for you and once they got you… it’s a wrap,” says Miss Pugh, a police assistant at Nashville’s CJC.

Stacks made several tweets about her detainment by saying the Nashville security offices were holding her for over an hour, and that when they confiscated her foreign passport, they began “messing” with her.

Welp! If everything plays out against the benefit of Miss Stacks, she will be boarding a plane to Venezuela.  Keep it locked to MSDTV for updates…
