New Music: Chris Brown’s “All About You” |Video|

Posted by Raquel On August - 2 - 2011

Chris Brown is back at it again, with the visuals for his latest single, “All About You”.  Featured on his fourth studio album, F.A.M.E. (certified gold btw), the singer gives the ladies his softer side in the video…just days away from the release of his first ‘rap’ mixtape, “Boy In Detention” (August 5th)?!  Chris’ formula seems to be working, whatever it is…can’t even be mad.

Super-producer Swizz Beats is determined to get a collaborative effort between his wife, Alicia Keys, and singing sensation Adele.  It helps that the British singer/songwriter has sold over 2 million copies of her second studio album, “21″, which immediately hit to the top of the charts as the follow-up to her Grammy-award winning debut with “19″.  Alicia Keys recently confirmed that she is seriously considering recording a song with Adele, which has fans in a frenzy.  As Keys states to Kiss FM,

“She is a great lady,” Keys states. “I definitely see that there is a strong possibility we will do something together.”

The idea began as a “rumor” Swizz Beats was spreading around, but soon caught hype as everyone responded fanatically about a possible duet between the two – a highly anticipated matchup that is already creating a buzz before either of them stepped in the studio together.  Swizzy said recently in a short interview with MTV News,

“I just know that you know greatness when you see greatness, and teaming two greats up together, it makes history,” he says.

Swizz hasn’t been too off the mark this year, so hopefully we get to hear this song soon.  Keep it locked to MSDTV for updates.

New Music: Nicki Minaj “We Miss You” |Download|

Posted by Raquel On July - 7 - 2011

Hot 97′s kingpin Funkmaster Flex debuts another exclusive track, this time from Young Money’s own, Nicki Minaj entitled, “We Miss You”.  The song is an unofficial release from Nicki, as it sheds light on the passing of her cousin Nicholas Telemaque, 27, who was fatally shot this past holiday weekend in Brooklyn.  In it’s opening lines, Nicki says,

“Why’d you have to leave in July / On a peaceful and serene summer night…”

Our hearts go out to Nicki and her entire family.

Bobby V. visits Tim Westwood to do a lil “freestyle” for the show.  Bobby V shows his lyrical game (?) over the instrumentals for Kelly Rowland’s “Motivation” and Drake’s “I’m On One”.  Can’t say that he does either song justice – probably gonna regret this in the morning, but…

Although BX native/YMCMB member Cory Gunz didn’t drop his street release “Son Of A Gun” hosted by DJ Ill Will and DJ Rockstar on his birthday (June 22nd) as planned, he has been releasing heat for the upcoming drop scheduled to premiere July 5th.  In this collaborative effort, entitled “YMCMB MMG” Gunz hits the booth with Meek Mill, arguably two lyricists from the strongest camps in the rap game right now.

Young Money’s R&B songstress Shanell puts her own touches on Weezy’s hit song, “How To Love” – giving it a sensual, female spin that hits home for the ladies that believe their men “deserve the best“.

Shanell is currently working on her debut album with Young Money/Universal Records, before going on tour with Wayne for his “I Am Music” tour set to hit the road next month.

Compton’s own YG appears on Ms. Drama’s radio show to talk about his recent feature as a XXL Freshman. He opens up about his start in the game, and being the originator of the Jerk Movement. He emphasizes his youth fanbase and how it helped him to ultimately receive support from his idol, Snoop Dogg. In regards to his relationship with 50 and G-Unit, he explains how Lloyd Banks helped him out when a New York club wasn’t having him.

On the topic of being lyrical versus making hits, YG explains that he’s more focused on making hits then being considered a lyrical artist. He admits that he started rapping to get back at someone, but says that if he “wanted to be a lyrical artist he could be one”. He also goes further saying Lil Wayne and Drake are lyrical, but Tupac Shakur wasn’t lyrical and that “he just told the truth”. YG ends with his upcoming releases, and why he’s waiting to drop his album. He finishes with a “Drama Queen” freestyle.

Well it looks like Miss Jones is headed back to New York radio folks!

They say it’s to do a Saturday show on Kiss-FM, but I’m sure there’ll be more to come. This seems like a ratings strategy to me, but we shall see. Stay tuned!

Here’s the abbreviated Emmis Press Release:

( NEW YORK, NY) – 98.7 KISS FM (WRKS ) announces the return of Miss Jones back to New York as the host of their new Saturday morning show, “ Jonesy’s KISS List Countdown” kicking off April 2 from 10am to 12pm.  Every Saturday the infamous Miss Jones will invite the entire New York Tri-State area to join her as she counts down the top 20 songs of the week.

“I’m very excited to rejoin my Emmis family with ‘Jonesy’s Kiss List’!  As most of you know, I began my career as an R&B artist in the mid 90′s so the music is close to my heart,” explains Miss Jones.  “On another note, I can’t wait to get back to the city…Let’s Go!”

Weekly, Miss Jones will post her favorite R&B songs from the 80’s, 90’s and today on www.987KISSFM.com and give listeners the chance to vote on the top 20 to make “Jonesy’s KISS List Countdown.”

Emmis NY SVP, Market Manager commented, “This is just one of many strategic [ratings] moves that PD, Jill Strada has made from working with syndicators on music, bringing Tom Joyner back to New York, to crafting a show for heavy hitter name Ed Lover, and now for the lovely, talented and unique Miss Jones.  KISS FM is all set for its next chapter of success as we move into our next 30 years”

Miss Jones, known for her “straight talk, no chaser” style, has made her mark on the map not only in the radio arena, but also in the world of television and print, authoring an auto-biography, and has interviewed and shook hands with some of the industry’s most exclusive players.  Now,  Miss Jones is ready to bring back a double dose of laughs, juice and up-to-the minute entertainment news every Saturday from 10am to 12pm only on 98.7 KISS FM.
