With energy, attitude and a magnetic presence, few debut artists will make an impression quite like Gloss Da Boss, an Atlanta native who is known to spit a mean 16 on one track and belt out a celebratory anthem on another, all the while strutting her stuff in 5-inch Louboutins. Since she was a kid, the exotic beauty had a love for all things shiny, which included lip-gloss, hence her stage moniker. Only 21-years-old, the Rapper/Singer/Songwriter, Actress and Businesswoman has grasped the key aspect of success- personal branding. With a lip-gloss and clothing line in the works, as well as film, TV and on-line projects lined up, it makes sense that she is also known as the ‘Global Mogul.’ Gloss Da Boss is on a mission of world domination.

Growing up in the suburbs of the South with heavy East coast roots (her parents were born and raised in Harlem), the sassy, yet always lady-like fashion plate combines the inspiration of both cultures into everything she does. Charlie Vox

Singer/Songwriter, Charlie Vox’s resume reads like a Billboard music chart, having written hits for Rihanna (“Final Goodbye”), Melanie Fiona (“Monday Morning”), and worked with producers Stargate (Ne-Yo, Shakira), Fanatic (Beyonce, Deborah Cox) and Carl Sturken & Evan Rogers (Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera). And yet, Charlie Vox, who has done all of the above and more, remains humble as she gears up for the release of her debut album Things I Never Said….

Born in Philadelphia, she started writing “crazy stories” when she was a child. She wrote songs for her demo tape after being inspired by her cousin, an established rapper. “The artist he was working with, heard my song and wanted to record it.” It was then that she realized, “I could have a career as a songwriter, it kind of fell in my lap.” When discussing her songwriting, Charlie says, “It’s not difficult writing for others, I try to make the songs I write universal. Everybody feels heartache and pain of some sort.” The singer went on to place the record “Full Grown,” a song she wrote and sang, on the soundtrack of the major motion picture, Soul Plane.

On Things I Never Said…, Vox explores the ups and downs of relationships with the help of upcoming producers Darien Dorsey, T- Minus (Nicki Minaj, Drake), The Chemistri (Deborah Cox) and veterans JR Rotem (Britney Spears, Whitney Houston) and Troy Taylor (Trey Songz). “The songs that I sing are true to me,” she continues, “Even when collaborating with other songwriters, I always find a connection in the lyrics.” This is the case with her debut single, “Lie Instead,” co-written with longtime collaborator Curtis Richardson (Jennifer Lopez, Craig David) and Jackson/Croft (Jessica Simpson, Tamia), “The whole process just came together one day, confirming what we knew all along. If you put us in a room together, creativity would flow organically.” Other songs on her debut album include the acoustically-driven, “Stranger,” the empowering “The Champ,” and the emotional ballad, “Damn You.” While the album is not scheduled for release until the winter, Vox remains eager, “I’m excited for people to hear the album and I can’t wait to perform. I just hope that my fans connect with me and the album is therapeutic with a little bit of finger-poppin’,” she laughs.

Although, she’s a two time winner of Amateur Night at the Apollo, featured performer in the off Broadway play “Who Stole My Husband?” and even opened for Destiny’s Child during their “Writings on the Wall” tour, she reflects on such triumphs, Vox does not want her current and future success to benefit just her. “I used to work in a high school where girls had real problems, and they confided in me,” she adds, “And through music, I was able to mentor them because they shouldn’t have to go through some of the things I’ve gone through.”

“It is exciting to work with someone as talented as Charlie is. She has a strong track record of success as a songwriter and I am certain that our team will propel her career to new heights,” says Siri Music Group, label president Chauncy Jackson. And while music is important to her, Charlie never wanted one thing to take over her entire life. “I have to be a well-rounded person to be a well-rounded artist. I need to live a well-rounded life.” After a “crazy” year, Vox admitted to needing “a moment so I can count my blessings. I don’t feel like I’m on a mountain top right now. I am thankful for my journey.”

In the spring of 2008, Daisha Graf – then 20 years old and unknown, started a back-up dance career that’s spanned some of the largest urban hip-hop and R&B tours in recent memory – Rihanna, Diddy, Ryan Leslie, Letoya Lucket, Jill Scott and Beyonce to name a few. Even before graduating with a BA in Dance from Hofstra University, Daisha earned notice as a talented member with the Imani Dance Ensemble and NYC based Rhapsody The Company.

However, after reaching the top of the working commercial dance world, her passion and vision to express herself as a performing artist hadn’t quite satisfied her own self-fulfillment.

“Even before being on the road for so long, I envisioned an original live experience more theatrical and expressive than dance alone could reveal about me,” says Daisha, spoken with a warm smile and a truly endearing attitude. Her artistic presence is noticeable, and likable. Its almost if an aura surrounds her that all at once says- ‘earth mother’ meets ‘Beyonce,’ but its not until one samples her music that the word ‘Tron’ is added to her club-like soundscapes. “I began to have intense dreams about a body of material that reflected me. It included my own electric sound, vibe, and style. I knew if I really went for it, I’d risk all the hard work I’d built so far, including my reputation as a professional dancer.” Daisha continued, “I really hope I can shed light to those who also dream about creating anyway that frees the spirit.”

Now working vigorously in the studio with some of New York’s youngest and brightest hip-hop, pop, and dance producers, Daisha, has undergone her own self-aware transformation. Free from the bonds of her perceived one-sided career, she’s elevated her artistic endeavors from only interpreting body movement from sound, to creating the sound and lyrics that also augments her dance style unilaterally, or as Daisha says “Creating new choreography to my own music is the best!”

Less you think this is the story of just another professional dancer wanting to be a pop-star, Daisha was trained as a classical pianist since the age of 5 and also participated in choirs throughout high school and college. “Music had always been an important part of my life, but dance became the perfect medium for exposing me to the professional music industry.”

Soon enough, Daisha landed a coveted spot on Rihanna’s European tour- “A Girl Like Me”. When she returned, she signed with the agency Clear Talent Group and continued performing all over the world with the renowned artists mentioned above. Additionally through her agency, Daisha landed roles on feature films such as, Step Up 2, Step up 3D, and When in Rome.

It was around this time that veteran music manager Jeff Robinson, CEO of MBK Entertainment, discovered Ms. Graf’s versatility, bold vision and her ability to turn heads with action. After extending an artist management and production contract, Daisha can now be found comfortably at home with an incredible MBK roster of artists where artistry, hard work and musical talent are heralded above all else.

Mariah Carey Gets Booed For Getting Her Grub On At New York Restaurant

When singer Mariah Carey walks down the streets of New York there are bound to be stares and comments shot her way. Still, the singer/actress was not likely expecting to be booed as she and hubby Nick Cannon entered a steakhouse restaurant last week.

Carey claims that she did not intentionally mean to cross a picket line while dining out with her husband Nick Cannon in New York last weekend, insisting she has “nothing but respect for those in the struggle.”

The couple, on their way to Central Park Boathouse in Manhattan, walked past striking restaurant workers, who upon seeing the couple enter the steakhouse, ended up yelling and booing — shouting “Shame on you!” at the pair.

Carey somewhat affected by the adverse attention, is now trying to explain herself via Twitter:

“Ok – obviously we didn’t purposely dine at a restaurant w/a (with a) picket line… And clearly the issues the picketers are dealing with are issues we would never try to overlook,” she tweeted. “So when you see a ‘video’ of me walking thru a bunch of picketers as they say ‘Shhhhaaame on yoooou’ please understand – we respect… All people and have nothing but respect for those in the struggle.”
