In celebration of the Mixtape Release for “Vampire Life 2″ Jim Jones teamed up with Vampire Life Productions to present a private screening of Vampire Life F.E.A.S.T.- The Movie. 

A gritty compilation cleverly housed in a theatrical presentation, Jim Jones’ puts his mixtape into a full length feature taking you on a cautious journey about money, greed, betrayal and revenge.

The screening brought out celebrity friends of Jones including his fiance, Chrissy, his mother – Mama Jones, Dipset affiliate Juelz Santana and artist Flo Rida.

Next Thursday (May 31st) will be a hair – terrific experience for viewers and fans of celebrity hair stylist Kim Kimble.

We tv is launching a new reality docu -series, “L.A. Hair” that will follow celebrity hair stylist Kim Kimble, as she makes over Hollywood A-listers. 

When it comes to celebrity hair, Kim is one of the most coveted names in the game. Working in entertainment from movie sets to music videos, Kim is the ultimate image maker and a trendsetter. Some of her notable clients like Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Rowland and Shakira speak volumes of her work – and offer a dynamic look into what really goes on behind the scenes of hair styling.

Kimble’s real day to day will be highlighted in the new show with her salon full of talented but high-strung stylists, including her opinionated mother.

L.A. Hair premiers Thursday, May 31st on We tv at 10 PM ET/PT.

Ready for some diverse programming at BET?

“106 & PARK” will present a new segment for true rap and hip-hop fans.  “The Backroom” features rappers spitting freestyles and exclusive verses over original beats. On Friday, May 18, 2012 at 6 pm EST tune in as Def Jam recording artist, 2 Chainz becomes the first to step into “The Backroom.”

“The BackRoom is the place where freestyle will reign.  Truth is, we’ve missed having a place like Rap City’s “The Booth” and now we’ve got it.  In The Backroom, it doesn’t matter if you’re famous or not. You just have to be a skilled emcee,” says Stephen Hill, president of music programming and specials, BET Networks.

“The Backroom” launches this Friday, May 18th with ATL artist 2 Chainz, formerly known as Tity Boi, who is making waves in hip-hop with his acclaimed mixtape “T.R.U. REALigion,” featured on Kanye West’s “Mercy” and Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap.”   2 Chainz is also preparing for his solo debut album due later this year.

Southern California hip-hop duo Audio Push are back with a new visual off their mixtape, Truth Be Told, which dropped in late March. The video premiered yesterday – and is one of MSDTV favorite joints off of their tape.

Queen Latifah makes her first on-screen appearance on BET’s hit romantic comedy Let’s Stay Together. 

Executive producer Queen Latifah makes her first on-screen debut as Tasha’s (Joyful Drake) strong-willed client. Unfortunately, Tasha’s new client proves more than she bargains for, as Queen Latifah makes Tasha question her identity and career choice. Meanwhile, Stacy’s (Nadine Ellis) excitement grows as her birthday draws closer, while Charles (Bert Belasco) is less than enthused as he’s having a hard time picking out a gift.

New York City radio will never be the same as two of the biggest African-American adult R&B stations are merging – into one R&B conglomerate. 

98.7 Kiss FM and 107.5 WBLS have decided to merge into one R&B station that will be housed on WBLS’s 107.5 platform.

WBLS VP/General Manager Deon Levingston explains:

“WBLS and WRKS have been the voice of the tri-state black community for 30 years and we plan to merge the best of both stations to create a stronger voice to deliver the best in R&B music while also super serving our community.”

A press release was sent out today (April 26th) to announce the new partnership and to make sure KissFM fan’s would be tuning until their last day (April 30th) on the dial. From today and throughout the weekend, the two radio stations will be celebrating their legacies and impact on the community.

For New Yorkers who grew up on the station, popular radio DJs will return to the airwaves to celebrate their history. The official merging of the stations will take place on April 30th. On that date, listeners will have to tune to 107.5 as 98.7 will no longer be in existence.

The new 98.7 will now be a talk format station for ESPN.

Over the years, Atlanta has introduced its fair share of music superstars to the world, and with the introduction of Singer/Songwriter/Actor/Model, Ray Lavender, that tradition will undoubtedly continue.

Coming to Atlanta by way of Monroe, Louisiana, Ray Lavender is poised to become one of music’s brightest stars. He offers a sensual yet charismatic brand of music that simultaneously is coupled with mass universal appeal. Growing up, Ray admired a wide array of artists from Sam Cooke to Prince; but it was R. Kelly who truly inspired Ray to pursue his passion. “When I met him he urged me to continue to write as well as sing and become an overall hard working musician,” says Ray. This work ethic is engrained in Ray, as he is still equally passionate about songwriting as he is about singing.

Even though his musical peers serve as major motivators, it is from his life that Ray Lavender draws his greatest inspirations. Coming from a large family of music lovers, Ray was destined for the stage, but it was the untimely loss of his father that motivated him to make a difference; not only for himself, but for his family.

His career jumped off while at a studio in Atlanta when a music executive overheard sweet harmonies from a group called Collabo and was particularly blown away by the lead singer, Ray Lavender. They formed a relationship that prompted Ray to begin recording as a solo artist, and it was then that the music industry would begin to take notice.

Ray Lavender’s tireless pursuit of success gained him the respect of the industry’s top producers including Jazze Pha, Dallas Austin, Teddy Riley and Tricky Stewart. He soon began writing gigs and received an early placement with the song, “Knock, Knock, Knock,” for R&B great Gerald Levert’s A Stroke of Genius album. After this he knew it was time to get serious and begin working on his own project and reached out to multi- platinum-selling superstar Singer/Songwriter/Producer Akon, who welcomed him with open arms. There was an instant chemistry between the two and, in 2007, Ray was immediately signed as the first act to Akon’s KonLive Records via Geffen Records.

Although his debut album was never released, Ray Lavender garnered radio and digital hit singles with “My Girl Gotta Girlfriend,” featuring Fabolous & Red Cafe’, “Put It Down,” featuring T-Pain, & “Stay” which was produced by Tank, collectively receiving millions of views online.

He went on to star and win the heart of Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth on Donald Trump’s “Ultimate Merger.” Ray states, “Winning over Omarosa only gave me more strength to continue my pursuit of music. They get no harder to impress than her and I plan to give my fans all of me, just as I did with her.”

Now, in 2012, Ray is setting up his official Fall debut with a series of singles, all written by Ray. The songs show his diverse range and versatility in music. The club popping single “Tequila,” just may be the party anthem of the year. The sweet and soaring “We Love,” reminds us that it doesn’t matter how rough it gets, love conquers all. And “Sexy Mutha,” well you know…. she’s a “Sexy Mutha.” This song is sure to make every chick get on the dance floor and prove she’s the best.
