MSDTV Events: Wonder Twins Dee and Ricky G-Shock Launch Party

Posted by Graham On November - 30 - 2011

Ricky sporting the Dee & Ricky limited edition G-Shock

Casio’s G-Shock is experiencing a rebirth of sorts via collaborations with outspoken performing and visual artists including Ke$ha and Parra. Now, more youth appeal is being breathed into the brand with its latest collaboration.

MSDTV attended an exclusive launch party for Dee and Ricky’s limited edition Casio G-Shock watch at Trinity Place in New York City. Hundreds of guests including media, watch collectors, stylists and fashion nerds jockeyed for space in the swanky restaurant space, located inside an old bank vault. Long before the twins collaborated with G-Shock, they were making waves in high fashion thanks to creating accessories for Marc Jacobs in 2008. Playing with Lego® blocks has certainly paid off for these innovative, young designers.

Forever inspired by Lego®, Dee & Ricky said that they are delivering “time via the coolest kids in America,” with a splash of primary colors – red, blue, green and yellow – across the face adding a shocking pop to the stark white matte finish timepiece. The watch remains rooted in G-Shock technology featuring, magnetic resistance, shock resistance, 200M water resistance, Auto LED Light, 48 City World Time, 1/1000th stopwatch with speed indicator, 4 Daily Alarms and 1 Snooze Alarm, and 12/24 Hr formats.

In the midst MSDTV ran into Va$htie, Coco and Breezy, Peter Hadar and Theophilus London. DJ Gravy and DJ Mel Debarge kept the well and uniquely dressed crowd entertained in between performances by Swizzy Swinton, Vinny Cha$e and Bobby 2 Flea. MSDTV had a chance to interview downtown’s sweetheart Va$htie, who told us why she stepped out to support Dee and Ricky:

“I’ve known Dee and Ricky for almost 10 years and I love them. I want to support whatever they do. Kids have a lot to learn from them. It’s great to be a part of something so iconic as them having their own Casio.”

We will be keeping you up to date on more collaborations from this designer duo and Casio.

Let MSDTV know if you’re running out to cop this piece.

Maury Povich wants to lend a helping hand — and a national TV platform — to Justin Bieber who is scheduled to take an upcoming paternity test to prove he is “not the father” of 20 year-old Mariah Yeater’s baby.

A spokesperson for “Maury” tells the Huffington Post that the producers have invited Bieber to the show to take his paternity test. As reported by MSDTV, the 17-year-old has denied accusations by 20-year-old fan Mariah Yeater, who claims that he fathered a child with her when he was 16.

Bieber indicated that he’s willing to take a paternity test to clear his name. And now, former “Maury” executive producer Amy Rosenblum — who created the concept of airing DNA test results on the series — thinks that an appearance on the talk show could actually boost the credibility of Bieber’s denials.

“This would be a huge TV event,” Rosenblum told HuffPost. “When I brought the DNA test to TV for the first time on ‘Maury,’ I had no idea it would still be as popular today as it was then. Maury is trusted by millions of viewers and if Maury told Justin ‘You are not the father,’ everyone would believe it.”

If this happens, I’m sure all of America will be watching and shouting, “Maury, Maury, Maury!”

Of course, MSDTV will keep you posted. Check out one of our favorite Maury clips after the break.

Stay Tuned.

Last night a few of the cast members of Love & Hip-Hop sat down for an intimate preview and dinner with select media and tastemakers. MSDTV was front row and center to get a sneak peak at the first season and of course to watch the explosive fight that took place between Chrissy and Kimbella.

Executive producer, Mona Scott-Young hosted the event and Q & A with the panel of Jim Jones, Chrissy, Olivia and her manager Rich Dollaz. During the Q & A session, Chrissy addressed the backlash of the beatdown her fight with Chrissy. While the she offered no regrets on the incident, she did admit she was “growing as a person” and wanted to “move past it”.

Jim who was in full support of this soon to be wife (we’ll find out this season if it’s official) also shut down questions on Kimbella and Yandy (his “former” manager) when the questions became too touchy.

Somaya Reece who did not make it to the dinner – also received a strong tongue lashing and a few snickers from cast members who – for the most part – find the singer/actress/reality star a “joke”.

Of course, for devout Love & Hip-Hop fans – trust us when we say, this year will be one worth watching.

Love and Hip-Hop season 2 premiers Monday, November 14th at 9pm ET/PT on VH1.

According to the Braxtons, there will be plenty of fireworks and family drama in this upcoming season. Of course after watching the first episode, MSDTV co-signs their statement as the first show was definitely “explosive”.

Yesterday, Rick Ross appeared on the set of 106 & PARK for his first public appearance since his reported medical battles.

Ross came out in support of Wale – and the rapper’s latest album, Ambition, which drops TODAY via Warner Brothers. Of course, one of the main questions on everyone’s mind on set was Ross’ health.

The MMG Bawse – gave the full details to hosts Terrance J and Rocsi confirming that he did have two seizures while in flight, woke up in the hospital and was ordered on bed rest, which he attributed to lack of sleep.

MSDTV sources also say, Ross looked healthy, sounded healthy and confirmed that while on bed rest, he went back in the studio to record new music to be released soon.

We imagine that his recent near death experience has likely given Ross some major fuel for additional tracks to his upcoming album “God Forgives, I Don’t” which is set to drop next month.

This exclusive episode airs TONIGHT on 106 & PARK on BET at 6PM/EST.

Of course, MSDTV will keep you posted. Stay Tuned.
