Snoop Dogg is taking his acting role to the next level as the iconic rapper is gearing up to star in a new family sitcom. He’s currently working with Don Reo on the project in which the rapper/actor will play the role of the father, says Deadline.com.

Although the show is currently in production at Warner Bros. TV, the new show has not yet found a network home. Interested fans and viewers should expect Snoop’s upcoming parental role to follow his real-life day to day as seen on his reality TV show “Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood”  that was featured on E! Entertainment.

While the new sitcom details are still being worked out over at Warner Bros. TV, Snoop will also be featured in the new biopic,“The Legend of Fillmore Slim” which follows the life of a legendary pimp.

Not surprisingly, the rapper has decided to sign on as the role of a pimp where he will play the famous blues singer and guitarist, Clarence Sims (aka Filmore Sims) a well-known pimp during the 1960s and 70s in San Francisco.

Co-producer, Alan Ames, explains the new film:

“This film will span decades, from Slim’s emergence as a musician, to his fascination with the fast life, through his years of incarceration and his redemption.”

Sims, who will be overseeing certain aspects of the film, is 77 years old and currently touring. Hawthorne James will direct the film with pre-production starting in December and a March start date targeted.

In exactly one month, Drizzy will be releasing his sophomore album “Take Care” & decided to leak his album artwork. Here’s what he had to say:

Feels like it’s been so long. Is life moving so fast in this generation that when we desire something it begins to move in slow motion? Are we just used to getting what we want right away? Or do we require one another to feel right about all that is going on around us? Maybe our anticipation is justified by the fact that we genuinely cannot wait to share a moment again? Either way, your life and mine are scheduled to meet on October 24…I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

See you soon.

MSDTV is sad to report that singer Vesta Williams has passed away. Details are still emerging, but reports are saying that the singer’s body was found in a Los Angeles hotel room.

While the cause of death is unknown police are currently looking for an unidentified man who had checked in with the singer at her hotel. Later that evening, the chambermaid found Vesta’s body – and the man who had checked in with her, was nowhere to be found.

And now, according to TMZ, Police apparently found “pills” at the scene and so are investigating as a potential suicide. No explanation has been offered yet, as to who the unidentified gentleman is or if he is in custody.

The singer, 48 was popularly known for her hit song, “Congratulations”:

Although Williams never had any albums certified gold and never had any Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, she scored seven Top 20 R&B hits from the mid-1980s to the early 1990s.

RIP to a great singer. Of course, MSDTV will keep you posted.

Amber Rose is likely to be enrolling in a college course on cultural etiquette sometime soon as the video model has received an enormous amount of backlash for her unpopular comments on Ghana’s current economic state.

Last week Amber Rose ventured out to Ghana to help host the annual Vodaphone O20 concert. During her time in the country, the model decided to post a picture depicting her thoughts on the “poverty stricken land”. She also commented that Ghana had no middle class – and that there were only extremely poor people and extremely rich.

In response the Amber’s ignorance, a writer for Ghana Web responded saying:

“Did I hear Amber Rose say there are no middle class people in Ghana? And it is either people are extremely rich or extremely poor? I am a living testimony and a true proof that, she is totally uninformed about Ghanaians.

I am not extremely rich and neither am I extremely poor to be living in gutters or dirt as she puts it. I am a middle class Ghanaian and my family has always been middle class. There are several middle class Ghanaians out there living comfortably and not in dirt.

It is absurd enough to bring Amber Rose to Ghana to headline a concert as the only decent credibility this chick carries around is ‘ex-girlfriend of Kanye West’. I therefore expected that she should at least be coached if she is dumb enough not to know that we have middle class Ghanaians.

Not only did Amber Rose parade her ignorance as far as the economic strata of Ghanaians/Africans are concerned, she also presented her view as if there are no poor people in America where she comes from. There are people out there in America living in far disgusting conditions than those she spotted in Ghana.

If someone like Amber Rose wants to comment on Ghana, the best is for her to be informed on what she is saying…And why does she think Ghana is entirely Africa? Gosh! Africa is a continent, Ghana is a country and she just visited Ghana, we have 53 countries in Africa.”

Check out Amber’s response to the Ghana journalist after the break:

Now that director/actor Tyler Perry has managed to make Forbes’ top list of being the “highest paid male in entertainment,” his name along with his films – continues to be a hot topic of discussion.

In a live CNN debate regarding Tyler Perry’s newfound status, social commentator Touré went off on the actor/writer/producer/director/entrepreneur – calling his work “cinematic malt liquor for the masses.” SMH.

While Toure’s commentary may seem a little harsh, director Spike Lee offered similiar sentiments calling the comedy and melodrama “coonery and buffoonery”.

In the CNN discussion Toure continues with his thoughts on Perry’s talents:

“Tyler Perry is definitely serving an audience that is underserved by Hollywood. Especially black southern women do not see themselves at all in Hollywood fare. So, when he’s serving them movies where they appear to be in situations that are naturalistic and recognizable to them and definitely have that Christian message, I absolutely understand why my grandmother, my mother, and my aunts love this stuff, and my family down south, they love this stuff. I just can’t watch it without cringing because I’ve seen good movies and I know these are poorly made films.”

Adding a contrary opinion to the debate was Dr. Boyce Watkins who defended Perry by pointing out that, while he wasn’t thrilled about a black man becoming successful for wearing a dress, you can’t argue that Perry has done something that Hollywood hasn’t done for years; give black entertainers jobs. Touré countered that drug dealers create jobs too but it doesn’t make them “good jobs.”

Sigh. Check out the full clip below. Do you agree with Toure commentary — or do you feel Tyler Perry is doing more GOOD than harm?

Let MSDTV know.

With the economy being at an all time low, economists are saying this is a buyer’s market. So for those who can afford to by a luxury Texas-sized, 8,885 foot mansion, Ms. Tina Knowles is giving potential buyers a sneak peak into Beyonce’s personal space for only $3.5 million.

The 5 bedroom, 5 bath house was originally purchased by Beyonce in 2004 and then later transferred to her mom – who has now put the house on the market.

The house offers amazing amenities such as a carved stone fireplace, a multilevel formal living and dining room, and a 50 foot wall of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the backyard pool.

Ms. Knowles also has 2 other homes in the Houston area — a low-key ranch home, and a 4,783 square foot lakefront property.

Taraji P. Henson’s recent comment on being excluded from the current “Person of Interst” promo did not fall on deaf ears. TV Guide, who opted not to have the Emmy nominated actress on the cover with the other cast members explained their editorial reasoning in an interview with TooFab.com. Debra Birnbaum, the Editor-in-Chief of TV Guide Magazine and TVGuideMagazine.com explained:

“I made an editorial decision to do a story about the relationship between the two male characters on ‘Person of Interest’ and that’s who I was going to put on the cover. That has been my decision all along, ever since I saw the pilot. We’re certainly fans of Taraji Henson and her storyline on the show was never intended to be the focus of our cover story. I don’t know where there was a misunderstanding about this, but it’s been clear to everyone from the start. I don’t make decisions on who is put and not put on the cover based on race or gender.

“This week’s cover September 26 issue features the three stars of ‘Charlie’s Angels’ — Minka Kelly, Annie Illonzeh and Rachael Taylor. We are not pursuing a cover of ‘Person of Interest’ at this time.”

Wow. As reported by MSDTV, Taraji had taken to her Facebook page yesterday to rant about being purposely left out of TV Guide’s cover shot, as she is the leading lady in her new show. Now it seems like TV Guide has shown their true feelings about Taraji – she’s basically a non-factor to them. SMH.

Of course MSDTV will keep you posted so stay tuned..
