As we all know by now, Legendary DJ and Hot 97 personality, Mister Cee was arrested last week for engaging in a lewd sex act—allegedly with a 20-year-old male. Yesterday, he created a twitter account to defend his name & this is what he had to say:

Time to clear my name NY .. Stand Up Brooklyn they shootin ( Haters ) this is my city you can’t hurt me lets gooooooooo. Time to get this shit cleared up so make it quick cause i aint feeling this Twitter shit NYPD has a detective squad after all Rappers & DJ’S. Never was i in a car with anyone when i was detained.. The facts will come out and show what is being reported is totally untrue.

The same day, co-host from rival station Power 105, Charlamagne Da God, picked on Mr.Cee about the situation. This is what he had to say during his “Donkey of the day” segment:

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Later on that evening, you know FunkFlex had something to say about the ordeal. You can hear in his voice how serious & personal this was to him. Listen to his rant below:

Now if you ask me what I think about this…it’s not the first time I hear Mr.Cee being on the “Dow low”. I remember when Wendy Williams was still doing radio & she WENT IN on him…LIVE!!! So it’s kind of hard to believe The Finisher right now. If you were in his shoes, I’m pretty sure you’d do ANYTHING in your power to protect your rep.

To Be Continued…

Props to DDotOmen & RapRadar for the audio

UPDATE: Oh boy! The Smoking Gun has obtained the police report filed in the Mister Cee arrest from last week, and the fellatio rumors have been confirmed. Read the police report here!

I was watching Big Sean’s weekend recap from his hectic media day in NY last week & the drama queen appeared on the screen. The cameo appearance is at the 1:30 mark. After all long day full of interviews,  Sean goes back to Michigan to rock a show on his birthday. In case you missed her interview with the G.O.O.D. music rapper, click this link.

Big Sean sits down with Ms. Drama to recap about his XXL Freshman cover and the new artists reflected this year. He talks about how G.O.O.D. music has represented for the last 3 years and his active relationships with some of the freshman. Sean also discusses his upcoming album, Finally Famous, and offers insight on the meaning and story behind it. In reference to features, Sean mentions that the G.O.O.D. family will be involved, but prefers not to give away too much.

When asked about the music reality show contest as a medium for artists to get discovered, Sean expresses he would have also been interested in taking that route if he hadn’t been discovered already. Sean also opens up about Drake using his flow and that although “there wasn’t get a check” he did get credit and respects Drake as an artist. He adds that he’s flattered that, “he made a rhyme scheme that the whole rap game imitated”. Sean admits that he has now retired that flow partly due to the artists that abused his rhyme scheme.

On the note of his earlier years and an artist, Sean laughs at his previous notions as an emcee where he rapped about abstinence and no drugs. He reflects on his group the Young Boys and how he has essentially changed as an artist. The interview ends with Sean’s take on the future of G.O.O.D. music and the pressure that will essentially help him to be a better artist.

The Hype Men and DJBooth.net are proud to present Kanye West’s First Beats (Disc 1), a collection of what we believe to be the first beats from the now world famous Mr. West ever released. Here what Jensen Karp of The Hype Men had to say:

“Last week I was stumbling through my garage, searching through old storage bins, when I came across some old beat CDs from my days as a signed Interscope rapper. I was shocked to find that two of them, both given to me in 2001, had the name Kanye West on them. These two beat CDs, now celebrating their 10 year anniversary and I believe the oldest Kanye beats ever released, are here for your enjoyment.

I think this collection of early Kanye beats shows you where he came from, even if it doesn’t necessarily sound like ‘Kanye’ now. He kept at it and became the incredible producer he is today. I remember he even had to leave the studio sessions early, so he could make the last train back to his mom’s house. He’s come a long way, and I’m proud to have been around, even if for just a second at the start.”

Kirko Bangz Interview with Ms. Drama TV

Posted by MsDrama On April - 2 - 2011

Last week, Ms. Drama TV attended Houston native’s Kirko Bangz listening session at Warner Bros for his most recent mixtape, Procrastination Kills pt. 3 hosted by DJ Drama. The 21-year old rapper was essentially put on the map with the success of his auto-tuned single, “What Yo Name Iz” which helped to land him his current deal with Warner Bros. Now focused on his mixtape and releasing new music, Bangz will inevitably have to deal with the next step in his career: distinguising his own voice. Although comparisons have already been made to him sounding like Lil Wayne and Drake, Bangz does not seem affected by the feedback – but instead emphasizes his originality in his sound and music.

In a brief impromptu interview, Bangz sits down with Ms. Drama TV to talk about his mixtape, the mainstream sound, distinguishing his voice, and the pressures to perform as an artist.

MD: Your up here in New York, from Texas. Your sound is so main stream I feel that people will be able to catch on quickly. You just dropped your mix-tape with Dj Drama, and its called Procrastination Kills. Talk a little bit about that because that says a lot. Almost as if to say, don’t waste any time [making moves]. How did you come up with that?

KB: Well yeah you gotta get on it. The name comes from back when I was in school at prayerview. My homie Tory had a clothing line called skinny guy. He had shirts out in school. Skinny guy means if you skinny, or little or don’t have much, you always have room to grow. That’s what that means. He had shirts that said “Procrastination killed the college students”. All the students were wearing them and I was like yeah that’s tight, I like that. I gotta make it hotter, drop the mix-tape and call it Procrastination Kills. And ever since then I just been running with it.

MD: Ok. Listening to your music, you seem to have a real strong feel for story-telling, giving a real vivid picture . . .

KB: You think so?!

MD: Yeah, I can kinda get a feel I think, of what your saying. But I have to ask this question. There is going to be comparisons, that’s one thing as an artist in your life that your going to have to deal with. Whether being compared to the greats or legends, or even artists that are out now, how do you deal with that, what are your thoughts?

KB: I have. I mean all the time. I’ve been compared to anybody from Drake to Hurricane Chris, and all these other people. But I mean I don’t know.

MD: Do you hear it?

KB: No, I hear me, myself. But I mean you get comparisons, with anything thing in life. I think that if you taking the time out to compare me to somebody then I must be doing something right. Cuz I just got into the game, If you listen to an artist like Kanye when he first got into the game and where he is now; he’s evolved as an artist and that’s what I want to do too. With this single I get the Drake and the Lil Weezy but really my single is doing good. Its like I came out of no where and the response is good. So yeah im just chillen.

MD: Ok, that’s good. Now you said you were in school, are you currently still attending school?

KB: Nah . . .

MD: Oh so the music thing has taken off and that’s your focus?

KB: Yeah

MD: Ok, so with music being your focus your mix taped just released. Talk to me about your calabo efforts. I know we seen some videos but I know your getting a lot of support from H-town. There are a lot of legends and great people from there. Who have you personally been working with?

KB: I’ve worked with Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Brain Angels he’s from Houston and Day 26. I mean I’ve pretty much met everybody. In Houston its basically like, lil nigga you goin go out there and get it or you not. You aint just goin come and hang out. Out there you basically gotta earn your stripes. Meaning yo city goin see you and the legends goin see you and you get your stripes. That’s how my single got going, they said you gotta do this one track. I was cool with that.

MD: Ok so after you did your single and its going so well do you feel that pressure to out do it or at least match it. Do you feel the pressure to have to work even harder to maintain the momentum?

KB: No, not really because before that single even came out I always had mix-tapes and mix-tapes. So I built that bottom, that foundation. And we have other songs and they say oh we like this way better, or yeah we like this song. It just takes time for the people to catch up with you as an artist. When they do its like, oh ok I can fuck with this dude. You hear it everyday, they playing it in the club so yeah.

MD: Ok so as an artist, who are you watching out for? I know you have your own specific taste and way of delivery when producing a product. But who do you listen to when your home, when you say ok I’m going to relax?

KB: Yeah I like J. Cole and Drake.

MD: Ok cool, so you listen to today’s artist.

KB: Yeah, cuz its like every artist wanna hear something that they never heard before.

MD: Your really progressing as an artist in a short amount [of time] in some areas. What advice would you give to others following the same path with high hopes?

KB: I mean really you just gotta be yourself. Like be yourself and if it works out for you, grind hard. Don’t get lost in it. And have fun.

MD: Ok with that being said I know you have more in the works. So we will being seeing and hearing more [from you]. Your mix-taped released with Dj Drama’s official stamp, and it is a stamp. Letting people know your in the mix. Its your one and only Ms. Drama Queen with the one and only Kirko Bangz, check him out.

Lil Wayne says, “You’re fired!” to Drake?

Posted by MsDrama On April - 1 - 2011

Drake: "I want my money Wayne!" Wayne: "Hell NO!"

Well the theory of gravity proves true for this situation – what goes up, must come down. Drake has had an awesome year with his album, shows, and basically life – but it seems not all is well in Young Money Land for the Canadian rapper. According to sources close to the rapper,  for the last 2 months, there has been some major issues with unpaid royalties to Mr. Thank Me Later. So much an issue that a seemingly minor paperwork dispute turned into a major incident at a Young Money concert last night in University, Pennsylvania. In front of thousands of fans, Drake was allegedly kicked out of the group on stage! Here’s the rundown from Hip-Hop DX:

Drake was kicked out of Young Money after a heated argument with Lil Wayne and Baby.

According to sources, tensions have been fueling for the past 2 months over unpaid royalties and Drake wanting to restructure his contract with Cash Money/Young Money.

Drake who was not on the bill but was apparently there to make a special appearance but refused to take the stage and all hell broke loose.
According to sources, during the argument, Drake screamed he was Young Money and if it wasn’t for him, the label would have died while Wayne was locked down.

Weezy apparently became irate after the statement and replied, “This the thanks I get… We don’t fuc*ing need you.”

Sources stated that a shoving match pursued before both securities stepped in.

While this situation doesn’t look very promising at the moment, there is still likely an opportunity to reconcile with the YM camp. I’m sure Drake doesn’t want to unnecessarily burn this bridge so soon in his career. But if he does – mark my words folks, I have a pretty strong feeling G.O.O.D. music will have a place ready for him.
