Too $hort, legendary rapper and Oakland native, treated Golden State Warriors fans to a surprise performance during their game on April 8th against the Los Angeles Lakers. During the first quarter, NBA cheerleaders, the Warrior Girls, took the court to dance to Too $hort’s song “Blow the Whistle”. Unaware of $hort’s presence in the building, fans were given the surprise of the night as he walked onto the court and announced that “Short Dog’s in the house”. The packed house of over 20,000 immediately erupted into a roar of cheers, and Lakers and Warriors players alike broke out of their team huddles to enjoy the show.
The hometown love shown for Too $hort carried over the hometown team and set the tone for the night as the Warriors defeated the Lakers for the first time in 12 games, with a score of 95-87.
